Honor First, Win or Lose
All Students College And Career Ready

Principal's Message

Welcome to the Agua Fria High School Website. Agua Fria is the home of the Owls. Agua Fria has a proud tradition of honor and excellence in academics and athletics dating back to the 1920’s. We are committed to supporting our students to reach their full potential and realize success in their academic, personal, and professional lives. At Agua Fria High School, our mission is “All Students College and Career Ready.” Academic success is our #1 priority. Our mindset is that Hard Work and Effort + Quality Instruction = Growth.

“Don’t tell me how talented you are. Tell me how hard you work.”    -Arthur Rubenstein

Brain research demonstrates that challenging yourself, working hard, and learning from mistakes actually increases a person’s intelligence. This is known as the Growth Mindset.

From day one, our focus is on preparing our students for life after high school. We strongly believe in providing academic opportunities, supports and intervention structures so that ALL students will not only succeed but excel. At AFHS, All Means All, and we live by that motto. Last Year AFHS seniors earned over six million dollars in scholarships. Our sophomores had the highest reading scores since Agua Fria was founded. Out of 25 core subject areas district wide, Agua Fria students have the highest achievement scores for the district in 13 areas, including the top freshman Algebra scores for three years running, and the #1 ranked science and international language departments. The tradition of excellence is alive and well at Agua Fria High School.
